Effingham - John H. Lovejoy, Jr. 81, passed away Thursday December 8, 2011 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH. following a period of failing health. Born January 2, 1930 in San Diego, CA he was the son of the late John H. and Jennie (Stevens) Lovejoy, Sr. Mr. Lovejoy served as a Quarter master and Signalman on the USS Newport News and the U.S.S. Desmoines in the US Navy during the Korean War and continued his service in the Navy Reserves for 28 years before retiring. He worked as a draftsman for many years for Great Falls Products and later in life worked with the Forestry Department for the State of NH. He had also worked for the City of Rochester as Tax Assessor 1976-1978. He graduated from Spaulding High School Class of 1948. He was a member of the Jaycee's, a scout leader for the Boy Scouts, he had coached midget football and Babe Ruth baseball and he was a volunteer for the East Rochester Fire Department for many years.
