Strafford, NH. John D. MacDougall, Jr., 85, died peacefully at home on July 12 after a brief illness.
He was born May 31, 1935 in Rochester, NH, the son of John "Mac" D., Sr. and Stella "Toots" MacDougall.
John was married to Shirley (Bergstrom) and they recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed other hobbies over the years including horseshoes and, until recently, getting together with his buddies to shoot skeet and targets. He served as Chief of the all-volunteer Strafford Fire Department for a number of years and Fire Warden for many years after. He retired from General Electric in 1998 where he worked after graduating from Spaulding High School in 1953.
John is survived by his wife Shirley and their four children, Janis Fitzpatrick and her partner Ed Couture; Joyce MacDougall (predeceased by her partner Larry Chilson); Judy Davison and her husband Duncan; and John "J.D." MacDougall III and his wife Ann.
