John J Mulcahy

July 29, 1946 — March 14, 2024

John J. Mulcahy, age 77, born July 29, 1946 in Lawrence, Ma., passed March 14, 2024, peacefully.  Deanna, his beloved wife of 55 yrs., checked on John @ 7:30 am & found him unresponsive, Rochester, N.H.John went to Catholic school in N.J., after completing, he moved home.  His first job was, as he said to me, a soda jerk.  Secondly was Abington Shoe, Boston, Ma., starting as floor sweeper.  The owners moved to Newmarket, N.H. in 1969, they asked Jack to move w/them, he did so, and started in shipping, quickly worked his way to Vice President of manufacturing, now known as Timberland Footwear, hence the owners opened factories in Dominican Republic & Puerto Rico, John then had much travel to manage two more companies taking him away from home a great deal of time. His last job was w/Sympatex, which is a waterproofing footwear.  This phase of his job was travel to factories in China (most prevalent), Haiti, Viet Nam, Spain, Dominican Republic, and more to detect and solve problems with sympatex inserted in all the factory footwear.  Jack had several special colleagues:  Henry, Tom Knot@ the China facility, they truly valued his knowledge and expertise.  Jack retired age 63, but Dominican factory hired him as a consultant for a period of  time, until he totally retired. Jack had a dear friend who introduced him to Sympatex, Richard Vandernoot. Jack took great pride in making youngsters a wonderful Christmas Party for many yrs. by raising monies through charity funding, he had many good friends who helped make it happen.  Jack's favorite charities were:  Shriner Burns Institute and St. Jude.  John was a life time Elk, as well as, Elk of the Year.  He cherished going to his special friend, Bobby Bouchard's camp up north, w/other friends to golf @ the Balsams and hanging out. He was always helping friends in many ways, ones gone & here.  The 3 Amigos, Ed Feliciano, Jack, John Bourque had more fun than most have in a lifetime, Russ Abbott is now Amigo 3.  Ed F. & Russ A.were like his sons and what they do.  We had many vaca's w/Feliciano's, Bourque's, Gilberts & more, Turks & Caicos, Aruba, Vegas, Dominican, Cancun, Hawaii, etc.  Jack loved life and lived it to the fullest.  John is survived by his devoted wife Deanna, his two sons:  William & wife Jennifer, John & wife Lisa, sister Theresa & husband Matt LaScola, Grandson Shaun M., sister-in-law, Sharon Mckay.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins.  Predeceased family members:  Father, John Mulcahy, Mother, Katherine S. Mulcahy, Brother, Joseph J. Mulcahy .  Many Aunts & Uncles.  A General Service will be held @ St. Mary's Church @ 11.30 am, Thursday, April 25, 2024, 71 Lowell St., Rochester, N.H.  Directly following the Service, a Celebration of Life will be held @ Rochester Elks Lodge, 41 Columbus Ave., Rochester, N.H.  email to:  info@edgerlyfh.com
