Joseph Donald "Joe" Gold, age 84, of Jeannette, PA, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Frisbie Hospital in Rochester, NH. Joe was born on August 6, 1936 in Greensburg, PA, and was unforgettable to all who met him. A self-taught, ambitious man who enjoyed sales and advertising, he was a born salesman and loved to talk to people. He had various enterprises over the years that led him to establishing Gold Advertising in the Pittsburgh area, where he was president of the company. He and his wife, Kathleen, loved to travel. He loved snorkeling in the Caribbean, and Ireland was his favorite country. He loved to plant beautiful flower gardens and was on the garden club tour. He could turn any ordinary trip into an enchanted adventure. He is probably best known for his creative storytelling, especially with his family. Children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews could always be found surrounding Joe as he told the latest stories of the Teeny Tiny People and their adventures. Joe was magical with kids and could tell one story after another off the top of his head, captivating his audience. He was mischievous and funny, loving and grand. He had the best fireworks display over the years and would light the fireworks with his cigar. There truly was no one like him. He will be greatly missed. Joe was the son of the late Joseph C. Gold and the late Evelyn (Houser) Gold. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Edith Gold, of Sun City, CA and brother, William Gold, of Winnfield, LA. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Barnette) Gold, of Rochester, NH; and children, son, Glenn Gold (Ann) of Latrobe, PA, daughter, Vicki Powell (Matt), of Indiana, PA, and step-daughter Susan Howe of Rochester, NH; and nine grandchildren.
