Kathleen Ann (Vets) Winship, 65, passed away peacefully at her home in Rochester, New Hampshire, on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Born on December 4, 1960, in Wakefield, Massachusetts, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Carl Joseph Vets and Carol Ann (Conley) Vets.
She was raised in Groveland, Massachusetts, and attended Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School, where she studied culinary arts. She spent most of her adult life in Rochester, New Hampshire.
Katheen is survived by her husband, David Earle Winship Sr. of Rochester, New Hampshire; her three children, James Frederick Nickerson, Kathrine Marie Nickerson, and Shelby Morgan (Vets) Kampwirth and her husband Sean Kampwirth; and her siblings, Michael Vets, Eileen Lannan, Paul Vets, Carleen Keizl, and John Vets, along with their spouses; her sister-in-law Norma (Winship) Somerset; as well as eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen, known to many as Kathy, spent nearly a decade of her life serving her community as a Correctional Officer with the Strafford County Department of Corrections. Kathy found her greatest happiness in the simple things—tending to her garden, canning what she grew, sewing, crafting, and cooking meals for her family. Kathleen will be laid to rest alongside her mother at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland, Massachusetts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at Edgerly Funeral Home in Rochester, NH from 10am-12pm, with a service to follow.
