Leonard A. "Pete" Ramsey formerly of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 27, 2018 in Port Orange, Florida. Pete, born in Gonic, New Hampshire on January 14, 1931, was the son of Alphonse and Helena (LeBrun) Ramsey.He leaves his beloved wife, Thelma (Mailhot) Ramsey, of 67 years and his children: Gloria (Michael) Luttrell of Summerfield, Florida; Paul (Nancy) Ramsey of Farmington, New Hampshire; daughter-in-law Sharon (Quintal) Ramsey of Rochester, New Hampshire; Susan (David) Ekola, of Rochester, New Hampshire; daughter-in-law Carissa (Colbroth) Ramsey of Middleton, New Hampshire; and Louise (Bernard) Sandrowicz of Port Orange, Florida, as well as his 10 loving grandchildren, 11 precious great-grandsons and several nephews and nieces.Pete was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and brother along with his two cherished sons, Donald Ramsey having passed in 2013 and Lawrence Ramsey having passed in 2004.Always hard working, Pete was the epitome of the term a "self-made-man". He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where was a master plumber and was most recognized for his construction of homes and the introduction of apartment living in the Rochester area having built, owned and managed Gaslight Terrace, Colonnade Apartments and Ramsey Apartments. After retiring in 1976, Pete and Thelma later moved to Port Orange, Florida, where they have made their home for the past 32 years.Pete and Thelma were very active and adventurous whether journeying cross country or boarding cruise ships. They enthusiastically loved traveling and just being together. An avid woodworker, he was never idle and could always be found in his workshop crafting woodcarvings for family and friends. Pete was devoted to his faith and was actively involved with the Catholic Church of the Epiphany where he served as a Eucharistic minister and minister to the sick. He enjoyed his family and was never happier than when he was amongst his children, grandchildren and great grandsons. He will be greatly missed.Pete's final request was to return home where he will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Gonic, New Hampshire following a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Main Street, Gonic, New Hampshire.
