Rochester, New Hampshire. Lucille Agnes Berry, 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at The Studley Home. The daughter of Edward and Agnes Demers, Lucille was raised in Epsom, New Hampshire, and graduated from Austin Cate Academy in 1934. She attended The New Hampshire School of Beauty in Concord, New Hampshire, and also taught there. Throughout her lifetime she worked as a beautician, florist, and bookkeeper. She married John Berry in 1939, who predeceased her in 1989, and lived much of her life in Rochester.Lucille is survived by her three children: Ann Richards, Nancy Stokes (Stew), and John Arthur Berry (Joanne) and four grandchildren: Deb Coco (Harve), Jennifer McGowan (Jim), Stew Stokes (Bess), and Ben Richards (Sarah). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Olivia, Sophie and Hannah Coco, Maggie and Sally Stokes, John McGowan and Eliza Richards, as well as her sister-in-law, Irma Messenger. Lucille was a woman ahead of her time. She always worked, but never neglected her role as a mother. She was independent and encouraged her children to be the same and emphasized the importance of self-support to Ann and Nancy. She was a good friend and neighbor, and her home was a gathering place for her children's friends. She baked her Made All Together Chocolate Cake every Saturday, and it was very popular with family and friends.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edgerly Funeral Home in Rochester.
