Luis M. Donavan of 35 Autumn Street, East Rochester passed away surrounded by family on Monday, November 21, 2011. He was 74 years old. Born December 17, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Thomas and Maria (Martinez) Donavan. Luis lived in East Rochester for the past 45 years after moving from Hampton Falls. He was in the United States Marine Corp for a decade, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then worked at Davidson-Textron in chemical compounding and prototype product development until his retirement. A loving father and grandfather, Luis enjoyed playing sports with his children and their neighborhood friends. He coached little league baseball and was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren's sports teams. For over thirty years he was a presence at their games and dance recitals. He loved watching professional football, boxing and baseball. He was a Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Rochester, NH. He is loved dearly by his wife of 51 years, Susanne (Willis) Donavan of Rochester. His four children love and remember him fondly, Scott Donavan and his wife Carolyn of Dover, Kimberly Starbranch and her husband Thomas of Durham, Linda Dixon and her husband Christopher of York, Maine and Jennifer Coombs of Dover. He will be missed by his loving sister Janie Sierra of San Antonio, Texas. He will never be forgotten by his grandchildren who love him very much, Madeline and Jack Starbranch, Cameron Coombs, Carrie Dixon, Jake and Joey Donavan. He is predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Alan Dixon and his sisters Dora and Lucy. Calling hours will be held Sunday November 27 from 6-8 p.m. at R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St, Rochester NH 03867. A private military service will be attended by his family members on Monday at 2 pm in the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
