Portsmouth - Marilyn Louise Parsons, 74, passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2013, with loved ones by her side, after a period of failing health. Born May 7, 1939 in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Natalie (Fisher) Carleton and a graduate of St. Patrick's High School. Marilyn was married to Al Parsons for 49 years and together they raised seven children. Marilyn also worked outside of the home. Many will remember her as a waitress at Jake's City Kitchen in Dover, NH and as a cashier at Market Basket in Somersworth. Marilyn was an avid baker, winning multiple ribbons at the Deerfield fair. She loved flowers and bird watching. Members of her family include her children Leon Parsons III and wife Brenda of Hollis, ME; Alane Grant and husband Timothy of Gilford, NH; Natalie Hebert and husband Dana of Somersworth, NH; Laura Dowling and husband John of Rollinsford, NH; Lisa Winkley and husband Brian of Rochester, NH; Lance Parsons and wife Erica of Concord, NH; and Leslie Boisvert and husband Joshua of South Riding, VA; her grandchildren Leon Parsons IV, Jordan Hebert, Kaitlyn and Kristen Dowling, Ariana and Abigail Winkley, Mary and Grace Parsons, and Genevieve and Benjamin Boisvert, three sisters Leslie Sheehan and husband Robert of Merrimack, NH; Judith Cunniff and husband Thomas of Lowell, MA; and Sheila Doyle and husband Edward of Andover, MA; Sister-in-law Carole (Parsons) and husband Ernie Johnson of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leon (Al) Parsons, Jr., her grandson Todd Hebert, and brother Edward Carleton. Family and friends may visit Friday September 20, from 10-11AM at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A funeral service will be held at 11AM in the chapel of the funeral home.
