Barrington - Mario P. Leone, 92, passed away Friday February 13, 2015 at the Rochester Manor following a period of failing health. Born May 20, 1922 in Worcester, MA he was the son of the late Joseph and Raffaela (Lopriore) Leone. Mario grew up in Swampscott, Massachusetts. He served in the US Navy during WWII and that experience led to a lifelong love of boating and the ocean. He spent his entire career working at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts. He tested jet engines and was very proud of his work. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, the American Legion Post 7, and the VFW. Mario loved taking pictures, spending winters with his wife Catherine in Florida, and attending reunions with his fellow veterans that served on the US Navy Destroyer 629. Members of his family include his wife of 21 years Catherine (Scott) Leone of Barrington, NH; four step children Shirley Beauchenin of S. Berwick, ME; Ronny Grenier and wife Lisa of Rochester, NH; Donna Cartier and husband Richard of Rochester, NH; and Gary Grenier and wife Ruth of Lebanon, ME; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. his siblings Armand Leone of Marblehead, MA; Joseph Leone of Salem, MA; and Mary Zarbo of Salem, MA; sixteen nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Sante and Victor Leone and one sister Helen Leone. Family and friends may visit Tuesday February 17, from 9-11 AM at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Mary Church located on Lowell St. in Rochester with Fr. Daniel Sinabaldi Pastor as celebrant.
