EAST ROCHESTER - Marjorie L. Jones, 56, of 14 Abbott St., died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, after a long courageous battle with cancer.She was an electrician at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and worked at Davidson Rubber (Textron) in Farmington for 15 years. From 1975 to 1986 while living in Victoria, Texas, she became the town's first female firefighter and rescue diver. She loved the outdoor and canoeing down the Saco River, camping with family and friends, just living life to the fullest. She was involved in many local fundraisers for cancer and the NSPCA. For the past 15 years, she gave to the Christian Children's Fund and helped raise a girl named "Bethlehem" to adulthood. She also gave to the United Way. Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Kenneth Jones of East Rochester; her son, Stephen Wentworth of Crosby, Texas; her stepdaughter, Cary Jones of Rochester; her three brothers, William Harris of Dover, Thomas Harris of Dover and David Harris of Berwick, Maine; three sisters, Pamela Cary, her husband, Raymond, and their children, Tamara Bartlett and her husband, Edward (Milo) and their children, Jennifer Dailey of Victoria, Texas, and husband, Stuart, and their children; as well as several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne Marie Wentworth; her mother, Janet Harris; her stepfather, John Harris, and her father, William Tibbetts.Friends and family may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester.
