November 13, 1931 — October 7, 2024

Martin “Marty” J. Plante, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Rochester, NH on October 7, 2024, following a period of failing health.
He was born on November 13, 1931, in Somersworth, NH, being one of fourteen children to the late Joseph E. Plante and Lydia (St. Cyr).
Martin was an awarded Korean War veteran who proudly served in the Army’s 187th Airborne RCT. He then worked many years as a pipefitter and progressman at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he retired from.
He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved spending time fishing, hunting, and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He also enjoyed many years of bowling on a senior league with wife Barbara, building puzzles, going to casinos and enjoying the company of his dog Bella.
He is predeceased by his six brothers: Joseph, Gerard, Phillip, Emile, Andrew and Napoleon, and five sisters: Louise Grenier, Alice Milliard, Rita Lapage, Marion Morest, and Adrienne Gagnon.
Martin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Babb); three children, James O’Tash Jr., Cindy O’Tash, and Sandra Fields; four grandchildren, Nathan, Jason, Sonya, and Michael; five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Lincoln, Chance, Brody, and Delaney; two sisters, Cecile Brennen and husband Bruce, Irene Allard; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Cornerstone VNA and express their appreciation to his nurse Sue, with whom he developed a special bond with.
