Rochester - Mary Wallace 90, formerly of Scott Street and the Gafney Home, Rochester, died at The Arbors of Bedford on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Born September 1, 1920 in Rochester, she was the daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Kilcoyne) Wallace. Mary was a graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, became a Registered Nurse and nursing instructor at Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in Fitchburg, MA. After returning to Rochester, she worked for many years in the office of Dr. John L. Hartigan and subsequently in the office of Dr. Desmond O'Neill. She later became a school nurse in the Rochester School Department from which she ended her nursing career with retirement. The family includes her sister-in-law Pauline (St Laurent) Wallace of Rochester and seven nieces and nephews: Katherine Keefe Gehring and husband Bill of Brookfield, NH; Patrick S. Keefe and wife Carol of Baton Rouge, LA; Stephen Wallace and wife Karen of Rochester; Margaret Wallace of San Francisco, CA; Thomas Wallace of Arlington, VA; Elizabeth (Wallace) Wyman and husband Stephen of Falmouth, ME and Mary Katherine (Wallace) Stein and husband Owen of Glen Allen, VA. In addition she leaves several great nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her brother Attorney Stephen O. Wallace and her sister and brother-in-law Anne Wallace Keefe and Attorney Philip C. Keefe of Dover. Family and friends may visit Thursday January 20, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10AM at St. Mary Church located on Lowell St. in Rochester. Burial will take place in the spring. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Mother Angeline Ministries of Care to the Sick, Homebound and Dying or to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Rd. Dover, NH 03820.
