BARRINGTON ; Melvin R. "Cookie" Thomas, 72, of 21 Brittany Way, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at his home.Born May 31, 1936, in Gonic, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Eleanor B. (Terrill) Thomas.Cook enjoyed racing late models and started his career at the Dover Speedway. He also raced in Hudson, Lee and other local tracks. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobile and restoring and driving classic cars.His favorite beverage was Moxie and he really enjoyed sharing his Moxie with others so he could enjoy their reaction.Members of his family include his wife of 48 years, Cecile R.
