Melvin Leroy Tufts, 88, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 17, 2022, at The Gardens at Eastside in Greenville, South Carolina. A native New Englander, born in Ayer, Massachusetts, Melvin was the son of the late Henry Edson and Jenette Williams Tufts. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a retired Realtor in Rochester, N.H. He graduated with a master's degree in Music from Bob Jones University and was dedicated to a lifetime of Christian service including Christian School Administration as well as the Music Director and Organist at The First Free Will Baptist Church of America in New Durham, New Hampshire. Surviving are his wife, Norma Taber Tufts of the home; two daughters, Melanie Holt (Perry) of Portsmouth, VA and Jennifer Wentz (Matthew) of Greer, SC; a son, Jeremy Tufts (Leslie) of Taylors, SC; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.. Mr. Tufts was predeceased by his brother the Rev. Lester Edson Tufts. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022, at The First Free Will Baptist Church in New Durham, New Hampshire.
