Dover, NH - Merlyne Louise (Palmer) McCoy, formerly of Rochester, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Born in Wolfeboro, NH on January 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Blanche L. (Lucas) Palmer, formerly of Rochester, NH. She grew up on the Palmer farm on Rochester Hill Road. Her husband, Richard Walter McCoy, formerly of Nashua, NH, predeceased her. A graduate of the Spaulding High School class of 1944, Merlyne continued to enjoy many years of friendship with classmates and involvement with the Reunion Committee and Alumni Association. She was a member of the First Church Congregational in Rochester, NH. She was also involved with the Widowers Group and other community groups. Prior to her marriage and full-time commitment to raising her family, Merlyne was employed at General Electric, Woolworth's, Meader's, and at an inn at York Beach. For seven years, she lived at her home on the beautiful island of Islesboro, Maine and loved having friends and family visit. She was an Avon representative there. Merlyne enjoyed reading, crocheting, card games, board games, making puzzles, playing Bingo, and solving crossword puzzles. She was a family Scrabble champion. She is survived by her six children, Philip E. McCoy and his wife Janet of Brookfield, NH; Joanne L. Lewis-McCoy and her husband Steven Lewis of Rochester, NH; David A. McCoy and his wife Carol of Northwood, NH; Cynthia L. (McCoy) Dube and her husband Edmond of Concord, NC; Richard W. McCoy, II currently living in China; and Charles R. McCoy of Rochester, NH; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren also predeceased her: baby Richard Ellis and baby Carter Dube. There will be no calling hours or service.
