WEST OSSIPEE Michael Jacobsen, 84, formerly of Windsock Village passed away at his daughter and son-in-law's home on June 20, 2009, in the arms of his family and loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.God called this angel home today. A man who lived his life each day unwavering from this philosophy:"I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any/Kindness that I can show to any human being, Let me do it now... Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall/Not pass this way again"Born in Torquay, England, on August 7, 1924, he served in the British Navy and became a U.S. citizen on April 12, 1949.A mentor and infinite source of wisdom to his family and everyone whose life he touched. His passion for skiing and tennis was contagious to those around him.He loved the mountains and their majesty. He was employed at Mt. Cranmore where he spent many hours as an instructor for the Golden Gliders: always anxious to teach them how to make "happy turns." He dedicated his time with devotion each year to the Special Olympics held at the N.H. ski areas.Michael was employed by General Electric in Somersworth for 37 years as an Employee Relations Specialist before retiring in 1985.His wife Violet predeceased him in 1971.He leaves behind two daughters, Michele Thibeault and husband Leo of Rochester, Donna O'Brien and husband Gerry of Revere, Mass.; six grandchildren, Gina Altri of Peabody, Mass; Dwayne Thibeault of Osteen, Florida; Justin Thibeault of Miami, Florida; Michael Connors of Somersworth; Brandon Connors of Rochester and Tyler Thibeault of Rochester. Also five great-grandchildren.The family would like to express their deep gratitude for their compassion and kindness for the staff of the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Hematology and Oncology Department, the Rochester VNA, and Seacoast Hospice.There will be no formal services.A celebration of Michael's life will be held for family and friends on Wednesday June 24, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Oaks Golf Club.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to the: The Rochester VNA, Seacoast Hospice or the .
