Micki Merrill

March 14, 1948 — November 28, 2025

Micki was born in Wolfeboro, NH , the daughter of Elwyn and Hazel Drew. She fondly remembered times with dad smelt fishing in the Smith River in early morning hours. She grew up in Wolfeboro as an only child. Over her married life, she never had children of her own, but she loved those that the Lord placed around, from friends to family.

In her early adult life she struggled with alcoholism, until a dear friend, Delia Chellis intervened, drove her to rehab and upon completion of the program, led her to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Micki grew quickly in her new found faith and soon began serving the Lord. She attended New Hampshire Technical Institute and became a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, serving several area organizations, including the NH legal system, providing court ordered counseling services. She later established her own independent counseling service from her home, including addiction counseling as well as relational counseling. Throughout her life she continued to do much for so many, especially the down and out and the homeless. You could often find her handing out water and peanut butter fluff sandwiches to the less fortunate and organizing others to donate blankets, hats, gloves, etc. to provide for them. Another favorite thing was inviting loners to sit at her own table - especially during the holidays. Loving, fearless and at ease with people on the fringe of society, Micki offered them her shoulder to lean on and a listening heart. A truly thoughtful and generous friend, Micki was known to drop off groceries if you had lost your job, send you a handmade card if you were depressed, or invite you to stay over when the day got long. Micki loved God and professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Some of her favorite pastimes included decorative painting, quilting, visiting nursing homes and street ministry to share the Gospel. Micki’s humor, spitfire personality and committed love for Jesus have been such a gift to those around her.

She attended several churches during her spiritual growth, getting involved in many forms of ministry. Her favorite portion of Scripture was the Book of Philippians and she loved the biblical word “mercy”. In her bible she had every occurrence of “mercy” circled and highlighted. Her heart was especially moved by learning of the many persecuted Christians around the world through Voice of the Martyrs and served as their Area Volunteer Coordinator for New England., responsible for promoting the ministry among area churches and civic gatherings, as well as training new representatives.

She became familiar with several international missionaries, corresponding with them regularly as they served on the mission field. For several years Micki hosted monthly meetings to pray for and write to persecuted Christians in prisons around the world. Other ministry venues included being involved with Women’s Ministry Bible Studies, Church community outreach ministries; especially fond to her was organizing other Christians to share a testimony of how the Lord had impacted their lives to begin each outreach dinner. She felt a conviction to remind other Christians of the Lord’s request: “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”

She was blessed with 30 years of life and love with her husband, John Merrill until his passing in 2021. Nearly a year later, she married John Aron and they enjoyed married life for the last four years of her life. Quietly during her sleep the Lord called her home, 11/28/2025.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Emmanuel Advent Christian Church, 75 Eastern Ave., Rochester, NH on Saturday, December 20 @ 2pm. A private interment in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date. To God be the glory.
