Rochester NH-MSGT Melvin E. Hasty,78, of 268 Salmon Falls Rd died Wednesday August 17, 2011 after a long illness. Born August 13, 1933 in South Berwick, Me he was the son of the late Robert Hasty Sr. and Louise (Lilly) (Hasty) Blackmore. He graduated Berwick Academy in 1951. Melvin lived in Rochester since 1974. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 23 years until his retirement. During his time in the service he served in Japan, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He later went on to work at Tilcon Construction (now Pike Industries) for 23 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1393, American Legion Post 7 and the Marine Corps League of NH. He enjoyed hunting, wildlife, travel and Good Old Sports. His happiest times were spent enjoying his family, following all his grandchildren's activities and going for rides with his sons, grandsons and brother Bob.
