ROCHESTER - Nelta (Goodwin) Grant, 89, died after a period of declining health on Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Gafney Home in Rochester, where she had resided for the past two years. She formerly resided on Vernon Avenue in Rochester. Born December 23, 1920, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Neal and Vivian (Walker) Goodwin. She was employed for many years as a clerk at J. J. Newberry's in Rochester until its closure and later at Colby Footwear in Gonic as a Payroll Clerk until her retirement. Nelta was a member of the First United Methodist church of Rochester, a 70-year member and Past Noble Grand of Naomi Rebekah Lodge, No. 4, a 75-year member of Rochester Grange No. 86, and a member of Eastern NH Pomona Grange and the NH State Grange. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Austin Grant, in 2006, and by her three sisters, Frances Dean, Eileen Caron, and Beverly Kearns.
