Norma Lorraine Dame

December 27, 1947 — October 6, 2024

Norma Lorraine (Millette) Dame, 76, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 6, 2024, peacefully and in the presence of her daughter, son & daughter-in-law, sister & brother-in-law. Born in Rochester on December 27, 1947, to Lucy (Chase Coco) & Roland Millette. She was raised in Gonic by her mother, Lucy, and her Dad, Kenneth Twombly alongside her sister, Nancy (Millette) Childs. Norma attended Rochester schools before going to work at the age of 16 at Hubbard Shoe; later working at Encore Shoe as well. Norma married Richard Dame in December of 1967, and they had 3 children; Richard “Ricky”, Christine and James. She loved spending time with family and friends, camping, going to church, and reading her Bible. Her love for gospel hymns continued even in her final days. Norma’s way of living was 100% selfless, always offering a helping hand wherever there was a need. She emanated nothing but kind-heartedness throughout her life. One of Norma’s most admirable qualities was never finding faults in others, she always chose to see only the good. Her special ability to recall any memory from days gone by made reminiscing with her especially enjoyable. Norma is survived by her sister Nancy Childs (Jim/Tex) of Rochester, her daughter Christine Dame of Milton, her son James Dame (Rebecca) of Milton, granddaughters Tiffany Carroll, Shannon Houle-Laws (Shaun), and Andrea Dame, as well as soon to be born granddaughter, Jaimie Rose Dame; her great-grandchildren Damien and Maddox Libby, Seaven Carroll and Kolton Laws. Additionally, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many “adopted” grandchildren whom she loved as her own. She was predeceased by her son, Richard “Ricky” Dame, Jr., husband, Richard Dame, son-in-law, Glen Houle, and her parents. Norma will always be loved and remembered. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on with all who knew her. A graveside burial will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Rochester Cemetery, located on Franklin St. Immediately following there will a gathering to celebrate Norma’s life at the American Legion, Post 7, located on Eastern Avenue in Rochester.
