Norman Dignard

Rochester NH- Norman F. Dignard, Sr, 84, of 32 Crosswind Lane died Thursday March 4, 2010 at the Rochester Manor after a long illness. He was born Feb. 23, 1926 in Leominister, MA the son of the late Alexander and Arthemise (Mallett) Dignard. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Norman has resided in Rochester for the past 40 years and was employed as a painter. He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 and a lifelong member of the VFW of Sanford, ME. He enjoyed dancing. Members of his family include his wife of 20 years Leona (Paquette) Dignard of Rochester ; son, Norman F. Dignard Jr. and his wife Linda of Dunnellon, FL. stepchildren, Thomas Genest and his wife Dawn of Jacksonville, FL; Philip C. Langlais Sr. and wife Shirley ;. Pamela I. O'Brien and husband Craig , all of Sanford, ME. Cindy L. Houde and longtime companion Merton Gerrish, Jr. of Sanford, ME, Paula L. Gerrish and husband Errol of Springvale, ME, Lisa J. Bedell and husband William of Shapleigh, ME; his brothers, Edward Dignard and wife Carol of Santa Clarita, CA., Francis Dignard and wife Ruth of Leominister, MA; sister-in-law- and brother-in law Rosemarie and Wilbur Vachon of Shapleigh, ME; several grandchildren and great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 6, 2010 at 2PM at the Rochester Manor, 40 Whitehall Road Rochester NH Burial will be in St. Ignatious Cemetery in Sanford, ME. At a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Rochester Manor Activity Fund, 21 Whitehall Road Rochester NH 03867. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Rochester Manor as they were so wonderful and kind to Norman and his family.
