ROCHESTER - Ralph Black,77, of 8 Nutter St., died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at his home after a sudden illness.Born Sept. 10, 1932, in Orange, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Adams) Black.Ralph was a lifelong resident of Rochester. He was employed for the city of Rochester, plowing and running the city dump. He also worked at the brick yard for some time. He enjoyed fishing, going to yard sales, wrestling and western movies. He also enjoyed cutting and selling wood. Members of his family include his sons, Patrick Black and his wife, Tracy, of Winchester, Ralph Black and his wife, Kelly, of Rochester, Shannon Black of Swanzey, Mike Black of Rochester and Jesse Black of Rochester; his daughters, Sheila Melanson and her husband, George, of Alstead, Debbie Black of Milton, and Melissa Black and fiance, Michael Leighton of Rochester, and Sandy Black and fiance, Jason Cutter of Rochester; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert Black and his wife, Mary, of Ashuelot, Harold Black of Westmoreland, James E. Black of Winchester, and Richard Black and his wife, Barbara, of South Dakota; his sisters, Etta Remick and her husband, Floyd, of Westmoreland, Caroline Routhier of Somersworth, and Betty Cabana and her husband, Frank, of Effingham. He was predeceased by his wife in 1991, Sandra Hughes and a brother, Carl Black.Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. visitation to be held one hour prior in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.
