Richard (Rick) A Miller, 84, a long time resident of Rochester, NH, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren at the time of his death. Rick was the only son of the late Wilfred E Miller and Helen M Bredenberg, originally of Worcester, Massachusetts. He is survived by his three sisters, Betty Ann Stanley of Rochester, NH, Merilyn Zajac of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ann Marie Rosenberg of Goffstown, NH. He was predeceased in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Shirley E. Thurston of Farmington, NH. He is survived by his son, Richard M Miller (Urania Silva) of Boca Raton, Florida, and three daughters, Linda M Miller of Rochester, NH, Joan C. Montini (Dennis) of North Hampton, NH,, and Ann Marie Jenkins (Bryan) of Eliot, Maine, along with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and several cousins. Rick was a veteran, who served in the United States Navy for almost 4 years, serving on the ship "Toro". He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a good game of golf. He loved to bowl and was on a men's league for many years. He loved sports and was a "Star" basketball player in high school. He loved the great outdoors and nothing meant more to him than his loving family and time spent with them. He was a salesman by profession and worked for many years at American Biltrite Rubber Company in Chelsea, Massachusetts and also for the New England Sire Stakes Racing Commission in Concord, New Hampshire. When he was young he delivered newspapers, and prescriptions, and worked at General Electric and Davidson Rubber. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at R M. Edgerly & Sons Funeral Home, 85 S. Main St, Rochester, NH, beginning at 11:00 am, followed by burial services at Pine Grove Cemetery, Farmington, NH. In lieu or flowers, donations can be made to Hospice, in Dover, NH in his honor.
