Manchester- Richard (Rick) A. Sawyer, 54, died suddenly at his residence Monday, June 13, 2011 at his home. He was born and raised in Rochester, NH. He graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 1976. He attended the University of New Hampshire where he studied art and history. He was an artist and cartoonist, who had a comic strip in the local newspaper in the late 1980's through the 1990's. He served in the U. S. Army and was an U.S. Postal employee for over twenty years. In his life he was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hiking, cycling, mountain climbing, nature photography, and traveling. He was very proud of his Native American heritage and server on the Native American Council. He was of the Abenakie Tribe. He enjoyed attending Powwows and drumming at them. He was a huge science fiction fan for his whole life. He is survived by his daughter Honora (Sawyer) Clegg and husband James of Manchester.
