Robert Alexander Crichton

December 20, 1948 — October 8, 2024

Robert Alexander Crichton, of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024. He was born on December 20, 1948, to the late Alexander L. Crichton and Mary Miller Crichton. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Susan Crichton; his children Laurie Huckins, Ian Crichton and his partner Samantha Lombardo, Kate Crichton and her partner Jeffrey Carpenter, and his sister, Linda and her late husband Donald Kelsall of Rollinsford, NH. Robert was the proud grandfather of Tim, Samantha, Taylor, Myles and his partner, Marissa, Brayden and his partner Brianna, Ariyanna, Max, and Lulu, and the great-grandfather of two cherished great-grandchildren, as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his son, Robert S. Crichton, and his brother, Ronald J. Crichton. Bob had a lifelong love of the water—whether salty or frozen. His happiest place was out on his boat, Southern Belle. He and his wife Susan shared many adventures together, exploring the coastlines and embracing their love of the sea with family and friends who joined them for the ride. He particularly loved turning left out of the marina toward the ocean and to one of his favorite destinations, the Isle of Shoals. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, a lifetime member of Club Victoire, a lifetime member of the New England Ice Racing Association, a lifetime member of the NRA, and a dedicated member of the Great Cove Boat Club. He was an avid scuba diver and instructor. He was also a member of The Works Athletic Club for many of his later years, where he enjoyed the swim aquatics class. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 11th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Edgerly’s Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH. A graveside service will take place at Kimball Cemetery, Meaderboro Road, Rochester, NH, on Saturday, October 12th, at 10:30 AM.
