Gonic, NH- Robert L. Gilmore, 91, of 39 Oak Street died Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in East Rochester, NH, the son of the late William and Mary Francis (Witham) Gilmore. Bob was a graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1941 and worked many years for Dr. Weathers, as optometrist. He also worked many years as a postal carrier in the East Rochester area. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received a purple heart and was in the 10th Mountain Infantry. Bob was a lifetime member of the Rochester Country Club where he loved playing golf. He enjoyed woodworking. He also attended the Bethany United Methodist Church in East Rochester, NH. Members of his family include his wife of 72 years, Louise (Faulkner) Gilmore, Gonic; daughter, Bonnie Gilmore Peterson, Deltona, FL. son, Robert Gilmore, Jr. and wife Linda, Cottondale, Alabama; grandchildren, Geoffrey Peterson, Jennifer Boulanger, Aaron Peterson, Artie and Andrea Gilmore; many great and great great grandchildren; brothers, Arnold and Richard Gilmore, both of Strafford, NH; sisters, Muriel Gilmore Witham and Barbara Gilmore Crisp, both of Rochester NH, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11AM in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester NH with Rev. Jean Main officiating. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Burial will follow in New Cold Spring Cemetery in East Rochester, NH.
