West Yarmouth, MA - Robert (Bob) L. Vanasse, died peacefully at his home on Buck Island Road on March 2, 2018, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer, with his loving family by his side. He was 83. Born February 4, 1935 in Farmington NH, he was the son of the late Armand and Doris (Trace) Vanasse, and grew up in Rochester, NH, graduating from Spaulding High School, where he received the prestigious Ray Breton Award for his athletic abilities. It was there that he met his future wife, Shirley, the love of his life. He was later inducted into the Rochester Sports Hall of Fame. Bob has lived in West Yarmouth since 2001 after moving from North Andover, MA. He served in the United States Air Force and earned an Engineering degree from Merrimack College, while employed as an Electrical Engineer at AT&T for 36 years - a career that took him and his family to Winston-Salem, NC and Kwajalein Island, Marshall Islands, before returning to North Andover. He enjoyed outdoor activities including golf, fishing, gardening, and scuba diving. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Letourneau) Vanasse; his daughters, Kathleen Green and husband, Robb, of Paso Robles, CA and Paula Bryant and husband, Michael, of West Yarmouth MA, along with his granddaughter, Samantha Bryant. Calling hours will be held Thursday March 8th from 6-8 in the chapel of the R .M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St, Rochester NH. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, March 9th at 10am at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 189 North Main St, Rochester, NH.
