Roger Dumont

October 28, 1925 — November 27, 2015

Rochester - Roger E. Dumont, 90, faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, 11/27/2015.   Born October 28, 1925 in Berwick, ME, he was the son of the late George and Blanche (Caron) Dumont.   Mr. Dumont served in the US Army during WWII. He fought in The Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in Le Petit Langlir, Belgium. He served in the 83rd Division, G company, 329th Infantry. He received a Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars for his service. He later worked for many years as a Sales Representative for Metropolitan Life.   His pleasure in life was spending time with his family. He was an inspirational role model, always being positive. An avid reader, he was always trying to learn and loved to discuss his beliefs. His faith was very strong. Mr. Dumont loved and cherished going to his 83rd Division reunions, spending time with all his "buddies". He liked puttering on cars and trucks in his garage. He loved nature, gardening, music, the ocean and especially Nubble Lighthouse In York, ME. He was a 3rd Order Franciscan and enjoyed visiting the monastery in Kennebunk, ME.   Members of his family include his wife of 61 years Cecile (Mathieu) Dumont of Rochester, NH; his children Susan Pray of Rochester, NH; Larry Dumont and wife Michele of Rochester, NH; Lisa Brennan and husband John of Pittsford, NY.   Six grandchildren: USAF SSgt Nicholas Pray and his wife Jenna, Lisa Marie (Pray) Boston and husband Tony, Brandon Dumont, Sarah Dumont, Joseph Brennan and Kathryn Brennan. One sister Laurette Babb of Somersworth, NH; and one brother Victor Dumont of Berwick, ME; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers: Lucien, Leonard, Gene and Roland.   Calling hours are Monday, November 30th from 4 to 7 at Edgerly Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church on Tuesday, December 1st at 11 am.     The family expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. Hugh MacDonald, Hospice Nurse - Sarah Phalen and all the wonderful staff at the Hyder Family Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Friends of Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Rd., Dover, NH 03820.
