Rogers "Mickey" Conroy

Rogers "Mickey" Conroy passed away peacefully in Rochester NH on Friday, May 19th, 2023 at the age of 90. Mickey was born on November 19th, 1932, in Newport, NH, son of Guy and Helen Conroy. He attended Towle High School in Newport, where he excelled in academics, was a star football player and was voted "Nicest" by his senior class peers. Mickey enlisted in the US Navy after high school, where he served as a Corpsman. He was in the Navy when he was introduced to his future wife of 69 years, Mary. Mickey and Mary raised three children, Marty, Kerry, and Michael. As a family they enjoyed camping, skiing and spending time at their house on Lake Wentworth. Mickey loved spending time with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchild. His other hobbies included: creating sceneries with his model trains, taking long drives throughout New England with his wife, tending to his garden and his chickens, walking his dog, Abby, watching the Red Sox and Patriots, attending and singing in the choir at St. Mary's Church, and above all else, helping people in need. Mickey dedicated his retirement to helping the community through both church-organized events as well as individually volunteering his music, baked goods, and companionship to anyone in need. Mickey was predeceased by his siblings, parents, three children, and his granddaughter, Erin Conroy. Mickey is survived by his wife, Mary Conroy, his three grandchildren, Sean Conroy, Elodie Reed, and Michaela Evans, and his great-granddaughter, Heidi Conroy. Mickey will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community. He brought love and positivity (and usually some home-baked dessert) into every room, and his big smile will always be remembered. Though we've lost Mickey in this world, he was very excited to be going to see his kids, granddaughter and Father Dan in Heaven. Services will be held at St. Mary's Church in Rochester on Thursday, May 25th at 10:30 A.M.
