SOMERSWORTH - Ronald W. "Charlie" Perron, 73, retired police chief of Somersworth, N.H., died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Perron was born in Somersworth on Jan. 6, 1939, a son of George and Claire (Lassond) Perron. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 through 1958, before joining the Somersworth Police Department as a patrolman. He worked for the police department for 31 years, where he retired as chief in 1988. In 1981, he attended and graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. He then moved to Naples, Fla., where he was employed by the Registry Resort in the tennis department until he fully retired in 2002.Mr. Perron was an avid card player and had achieved the highly sought level of Life Master in bridge. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as a dear friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Estelle (Aubert) Perron; his children, Lynn and husband, Andre Mercier of Milton, Richard Perron and Scott Perron, both of Naples, Fla. Also survived by his two granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley Mercier; his two brothers, Norman and wife, Rita Perron and David and wife, Donna Perron, both of Somersworth; two sisters, Lucy and husband, Dick Dubois of Rochester, and Donna and husband, Mark Sears, of Dover. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet (Perron) Marquis.Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Edgerly Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in The Catholic Community of St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Martin Church, W. High and Maple streets, with the Rev. Michael Taylor, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ronald W.
