Rochester NH-Ronald V. "Bucky" Leonardi,78, died Friday October 5, 2012 at his home after a brief illness. Born June 21, 1934 in Boston MA he is the son of the late Victor Leonardi and Edna (Donahue) Erdos . Bucky has lived in Rochester all of his life. He is a graduate of Spaulding High School class of 1953. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed as a pipefitter at Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard shop 56 and later at Heidelberg Harris until his retirement. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #1393 in Rochester, American legion Post 7 and The Victory Club. Bucky was the quarterback for the Tri-City Chargers semi-pro football team, he was an assistant football coach at Marshwood High School under Rod Wotton, he coached Rochester Midget football and basketball, and assisted former Spaulding High School basketball coach Bob Berry. He was once the manager of Rochester Post 7 American Legion baseball team, he was a member of the organizing committee for Rochester Slo-Pitch Softball League. He assisted in the construction of the Riverside Park Softball Field on Old Dover Rd and Keay Field in East Rochester. He was a former member of the Rochester Elks Sports Hall of Fame Committee, long time member of the Rochester Athelic Association, he was a volunteer for many Rochester Lodge of Elks fund-raising activities, and he managed Allain's Jewelry Slo-Pitch softball teams winning two State Championships and many League Championships. He enjoyed golf, and daily card games at the Elk's Lodge. Members of his family include his children; Christine V. Leonardi of Tuftonboro, Ronald A. Leonardi of Texas, Dino Leonardi and his wife Mirian of Miami Fl and Melissa Leonardi of West Palm Beach Fl, a sister, Jacqueline (Leonardi) Kalway and her husband Richard of Leesburg Fl, his grandchildren; Robyn Thornton, Sally Marie and Nairim V. Leonardi, Kelsie, Kyle Vernon and Katie Gipson, nieces and nephews, three stepdaughters Darlene, Debra, and Laurie, and his companion Barbara Hale of Rochester, he is predeceased by a sister Geraldine (Leonardi) Waller. There are no calling hours A celebration of Bucky's life will be held Thursday October 11 from 12 - 3PM at the Rochester Elk's Lodge located on Columbus Ave. Cremation arrangements are under the care of the R.M.
