Rosella Therrien

March 21, 1933 — September 15, 2014

Lebanon Me-Rosella Therrien,81, of River Rd died September 15, 2014 at her home after a long illness Born March 21, 1933 in Biddeford, ME she was the daughter of the late Frank and Effie L. (Hartford) Norwood. Rosella lived in Lebanon, ME most of her life. She was a graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1952. She was married to the love of her life for 60 years, Wilfred Therrien, Jr. When she was a child she belonged to the 4H club and as a teenager was a certified life guard at UNH. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She occasionally worked out of the house to save money for her children's christian education. She will be remembered for her love and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She was known by people of many ages and from different walks of life who came to visit. They already knew how much they were loved by her, when no one else cared or to visit her because their soul was so wounded and they would have no hope or love in a world that is filled with such sorrow and little compassion. When they left her home they knew someone loved them and they also knew of a saviour who loved them and would never leave them. So many people would come in and say what a peace there was in her home. She would bring out her Bible and set the coffee pot on and witness to all who came, bringing joy, hope and faith into their lives. Most of her children's friends grew up and she continued to be "ma" or "mom" to them and even to her grandchildren's friends she became "Nana". They could always come along with their friends and she would make sure she gave them a decent meal. If they needed a place to stay she would always find a pillow and a blanket. When they left they always knew they had a home and someone who would be there for them. She loved even those who hurt her. She was kind to them forgiving them and would show them Gods love by serving them a nice breakfast, giving them a ride somewhere or watching there children while she was raising her own. Rosella was raised an only child and said she would have a dozen before she would raise one alone. She came close with having 10. She was the greatest mother anyone could have had. A good solid meal on the table every night. The best homemade lunch out of any kid in school and if she knew there was a student who didn't have much she would give extra for her children to share with them. Always clean clothes and the girls powder in their sheets! One of two of her favorite things to do was putting the wash out on the line and bringing it in and saying "smell it, mmmmmmm, there is nothing like it." The other favorite thing to her was a huge thing in her family, every spring waiting for the peepers. When she heard them, it put a tickle in her no one could explain. While a pie or cake was in the oven she would take a few minutes and send out cards to friends or to people who were sick. Rosella was also a cancer survivor but she credited it all to her saviour Jesus Christ. The doctor. went in to took out ? of her stomach which was suppose to be cancer (at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital) and all he found were 3 big ulcers all healed over. He removed them and went to speak to her husband and informed him that they never gave her any type of medication for ulcers or cancer and it was gone. He said he believed in a greater physician but this proves it. Rosella told the doctor when God does something He doesn't undo it. That was in 1984 and she never had cancer again. Rosella had her mother move in with her and took care of her own family when her mother couldn't care for herself anymore. She took care of her until the end of her life. Rosella also after having 10 children, raised one of her grandchildren from birth until he graduated from college. She also took in just two years ago her autistic grandson and raised him for over a year. He still talks of how much he loved living with Nana and Papa. She will be eternally missed by so many. We will miss her wise guidance, her unconditional love and her unfailing support. Members of her family include her husband of 60 years, Wilfred "Pop" Therrien of Lebanon Me, her children; Sharon Dockham and her husband of Lebanon ME, Alan Therrien and his wife Janet of Lebanon, ME, Wilfred "Bill" Therrien III of Lebanon, ME, Pamela Beach and her husband Greg of Palmer, AK, Wendy Therrien of Acton Me, Bethany Matthews and her husband Ed of Strafford, NH and Elaina Searles and her husband Randy of Milo, ME. 27 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
