Dover, NH- Russell Carl Huntress, 70, died Saturday Oct. 28, 2017 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 19, 1947 in Biddeford, ME the son of the late Carleton and Margaret Alice (Kinney) Huntress. Russell attended Old Orchard Beach High School and graduated from Spaulding High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 as a corpsman in Vietnam. Russ retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles (in ink), spending time at camp on Little Ossipee Lake, going to the NH Highland Games and playing practical jokes (especially on his sister).
He loved his family and friends, his golden retriever, Riley Buffett Huntress and bacon. Not long ago he told a friend "I've had a good life".
He was always available to give unconditional help and support to anyone who needed it. He was a special person-truly one of "the good guys".
Members of his family include his wife of 37 years, Kate (Peyser)...
