Pierce, Ruth Rochester- Ruth Borden (Forsythe) Pierce, 92, of 4 Central Ave, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday March 4, 2010 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover after a brief illness. Born December 28, 1917 in Boston MA, she was the 9th and last child of the late Frank and Nellie Mae (Rouse) Forsythe. She spent most of her youth in Roxbury until her marriage. She then lived in various towns in NH, CT, CA although considered her home base to be NH having lived there in various towns since the 1940's. Ruth was known and loved as an active, enthusiastic wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who was a always ready and willing to participate in home and town events. One of her dreams was to have been an entertainer. She often sang and danced at events sponsored by the local musical societies and granges where she resided. As a teen, Ruth even sang for the Mayor of Boston at eh Boston City Music Hall. Her love of music and dance made her a much sought after choice for these venues and events. Other activities she enjoyed were homemaking, gardening, knitting, cooking and crocheting and contributing her time to the Unity Historical Society up until early 2003/2004. She was predeceased by her husband Bryce Pierce Sr in 1973 and her long time partner of 23 years, Cliff Stone, in 2001. She is survived by her son Bryce Pierce Jr of Claremont NH, daughters Elinor Driggs of Rochester NH, Marjorie Scott of Newport NH, and Elizabeth Hoadley of Centerbrook CT, as well as her beloved nephew Bill Fairweather of Beverly MA. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grand children and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth will be greatly missed by family and friends Services will be held at the convenience of the family in Centerbrook CT. Arrangements are under the care of the R.M.
