Ruth Smith

DOVER ; Ruth J. Smith, 97, passed away Saturday May 16, 2009 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover following a period of failing health.Born in Laconia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie (Hale) Johnson.Mrs. Smith worked for many years at Hubbard Shoe in several different departments. She was a former member of the Emblem Club. She enjoyed making crafts and going on trips with the other residents of Riverside Rest Home and also enjoyed the Bible classes that were held there.Members of her family include her son, Robert Smith and his wife Shirley of Gonic; her grandson, Michael Smith and his fiance Cindy Dobson of Berwick, Maine.She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Smith in 1966; two sisters, Catherine Bergeron and Dorothy Lamb; and one brother, Edgar Johnson.Special thanks you to all the nurses and LNAs of Unit II for all their special care they gave my mom.Family and friends may call Tuesday May 19, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester.A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
