Sharon
Brennan
May 12, 1951 — Jun 23, 2026
St. Ignatius Parish St.Martin Church
10:00 - 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Sharon Brennan, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at Spring Village in Dover, NH, on June 23, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on May 12, 1951, in Rochester, NH, Sharon was the cherished daughter of the late Arlene Duquette Brennan and Stephen Charles Brennan, II. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Stephen Charles Brennan, III, whom she loved very much. She would often say her mom was her best friend.
After graduating from Spaulding High School, she pursued her passion for teaching at the University of New Hampshire where she earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1974. Her thirst for knowledge led her to McIntosh College, where she graduated in 1994 with a degree in Computer Programming and Systems Management.
For 19 years Sharon was an employee at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard, where she brought her computer skills to her role. However, the position she most enjoyed was in working for Community Action of Strafford County. She shared many memories of working with Terry McGarghan and Brenda Aiola in fulfilling the basic needs of her clients. This was such a gratifying career for Sharon and gave her such happiness as she was helping others.
Prior to her illness, Sharon was an active member of St. Ignatius/St. Martin Church in Somersworth, NH, where she found peace in the presence of God and her parish family. She so enjoyed Fr. Andrew Nelson and looked forward to his weekly sermons.
When her mom was alive, she attended Bethany Methodist Church in East Rochester, NH with her and was enriched by the teachings of Pastor Jean Ann Main until Pastor Jean moved to Florida. She was loved by the congregation and would enjoy volunteering at their yard sales, breakfast and dinner fundraisers to enhance the fellowship shared by all members.
Her beautiful smile was a light of joy to all who knew her. She loved walking around the neighborhood in her healthier days talking to neighbors along the way. While at Spring Village she continued to walk every hallway around the facility most of the day. The staff would try to guess how many steps she would take as she’d pass them by with quick smile.
Sharon also loved her many furry friends - dogs and cats – over the years. Their unconditional love brought her comfort and calm. She was so happy to have them with her especially after her mom passed away as they provided companionship and gave her a purpose in life to relieve her loneliness.
Sharon leaves behind her nieces, Dallas Brennan Rexer of New York and Avis Brennan Hains of California, along with four great nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered fondly by her long time childhood friend, Jackie Raab, home caretaker Jolene Sullivan and close friends, Marlene Brooks and Brian VanBenschoten who join her family in mourning her loss and celebrating her life.
We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Spring Village at Dover and Wentworth Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Sharon, ensuring her final days were filled with dignity and peace.
A mass to honor Sharon's life will be held on July 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius/St. Martin Church with a burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, ME. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made to Pope Memorial Humane Society, 221 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820 (https://popememorialcvhs.org/donate/) an organization close to Sharon's heart.
