NEW DURHAM - Sherle Mae Wengrzynek, 82, died at her home unexpectedly on Sunday, October 6, 2013. The daughter of the late Perley and Eleanor Odiorne Welch, she was born & raised in Portsmouth, NH, on 1931. Odiorne Point State Park and the Seacoast Science Center in Rye NH, and the location of the first settlement in New Hampshire, the point got its name from the Odiorne family, who settled on the land in the mid-1660s. Sherle met her husband in Portsmouth and in the early 50's Sherle and her husband Bob moved to New Jersey and raised a family. In the early 70's Sherle with Bob moved to Hampton, NH and became owners of Handy Dan's "Mom & Pop" store, in 1979. After retiring from Handy Dan's, Bob & Sherle retired to New Durham, NH in 1988. Next to the love of her family, she was known for her heart of gold that she shared with everybody.
