STANLEY JOSEPH MULLANEY, attorney and musician, of Durham, NH, died peacefully in his home on September 18, 2023, with his children at his side. He was 82.
Born on December 28, 1940, in Quincy, MA, Stan graduated from Quincy High School in 1958. He joined the Army in 1960 and served with the 249th Ordnance Detachment, 6th Missile Battalion, 60th Artillery until 1963; he was stationed in Germany, where he learned to ski. He attended the University of Massachusetts and the University of Tennessee School of Law, and in 1970 joined the Dover, NH law firm of Calderwood and Ouelette, P.A. In 1975 he co-founded the Rochester, NH firm of Mullaney and Richardson P.A., where he practiced until retiring in 2012.
He played the banjo for more than 60 years. At his death he was a member of the duo Blue Folk with Pat O'Brien and the trio East River with Dave Mercer and Dick Topping.
