Milton, NH - Stephen (Steve) Frisselle, age 65, died at home on Saturday, May 2, 2015 after a seven year battle with myeloid leukemia. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 28, 1949, the son of the late Frank A. and Lucile (Hornaday) Frisselle. Steve grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, although he spent his early childhood in Dunstable, Massachusetts. He attend the Belvedere School in Lowell, after which he graduated from the Southern Arizona School and Hofstra University with a Bachelors in communications. Steve was employed at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, Massachusetts as a technical writer and then in marketing communications. In addition, he wrote articles for various publications, especially related to his passions of conservation, and equine issues. He and his wife Janis, began their life together in Brentwood, New Hampshire, and later moved to their farm in Milton, New Hampshire, with their children Jason, Kathryn, and Kaylee. While studying at the Southern Arizona School as a teenager Steve began his life-long interest in all things equine. He learned to play polo, a sport which he enjoyed for many years. He was a founding member of both the Byfield Polo club and the Seacoast Polo club, in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Steve loved nature and being outdoors. Some of his happiest moments occurred while he rode his horses, skied, or simply found joy in the beauty of his surroundings. His home in Milton, Touchstone Farm was a particular source of pleasure for Steve. There he loved to walk in the fields, observing birds and other wildlife with Ruby, his mini Australian Shepherd always nearby. Music was a constant in Steve's life from the time he could hold a guitar, he played various instruments, including piano, trumpet, trombone and harmonica, in addition to guitar. Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Country Swing, Folk, and Rhythm and Blues where all included in his musical repertoire. He was a member of Biggs Band for several years, also played "gigs" whenever he had the opportunity, and especially enjoyed jamming with musician friends. Steve is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janis Frisselle, of Milton, New Hampshire; son Jason Lightbown, of Salem, Oregon; two daughters, Kathryn Lightbown of Medford, Massachusetts; Kaylee Frisselle, and grandchildren Jaeda and Zaelyn Frisselle of Rochester, New Hampshire; sister Susanne Dickinson of Irving, Texas; nieces Melissa Dickinson of Lake Station, Indiana and Amanda Maczek of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; aunt Jeanne Elledge of Ventura, California, and cousin Nelson Frisselle of Manchester, New Hampshire. A Celebration of Life service was held on May 6, 2015 at the First Congregational Church in Kingston, New Hampshire.
