Strafford - Stephen A. Tapley, Sr. 63, passed away Tuesday February 19, 2013 at his home following a heart attack. Born April 21, 1949 in Portsmouth NH, he was the son of George and Helen (Street) Tapley. Mr. Tapley grew up in Greenland, NH and moved to Strafford in 1976. He worked as a Shipwright for 38 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a former National Guardsman, a member of the carpenters union, the NRA, and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. In recent years Stephen was a gentleman farmer who enjoyed caring for his chickens, ducks, vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Members of his family include his wife Jane (Schoch) Tapley of Strafford, NH; his children Lisa Holiday and husband Christopher of Alton Bay, NH; and Stephen Tapley, Jr. of Strafford, NH; his mother Helen Tapley, four grandchildren Josh and Abbey Tapley and Jane and Nathan Holiday, one brother George Tapley, Jr. of Barrington, NH; two sisters Jennifer Fisk of Amherst, NH; and Pamela Tapley of Boston, MA; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service and reception will be held at the Crown Point Baptist Church, 274 First Crown Point Road, Strafford, NH, Saturday February 23, 2013 at 1:00pm.
