Stuart J. Waterhouse

Stuart J Waterhouse passed away last week at the age of 72. He grew up in Barrington, NH playing with his two older siblings and the other kids in town.  His life long love of baseball, hunting, fishing, archery, and sport shooting came from his young years.. He spent as much time as he could with his grandparents. His love of hunting and fishing is largely connected to the time he spent with his Grandfather Waterhouse learning about those activities. His aptitude for mechanical things was encouraged and his early skills taught by his Grandfather Brown. Stu graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester in 1965. He went on to tech school and became an auto mechanic. After serving as a Marine in the Vietnam War, he returned to NH. His career was spent in the local area working for dealerships and continuing to take courses offered to mechanics to stay up to date on all the changes in cars over the years. Stu had four children who delighted and frustrated him for the rest of his life, but they always knew how much he loved them.. He loved to laugh with them and tease them. He was sure that if he didn't "harass" them a little, they might think he was mad at them. He was the dad who spent his weekends shuttling kids to swim meets, soccer games, part-time jobs, and coaching countless baseball games. Stu showed his love by always lending a hand when needed to family and friends. The thing most people who met Stu will remember is that he was one heck of a story teller. He brought you into the story, made you feel like you were right there with him. Often his hands were as much a part of the story as his words and he had impeccable comedic timing. Stu loved his family fiercely and is survived by his father, Lester, his siblings, Eileen, Carl (Kathy), Ann, Gail (Bill), and Daniel, his nieces and nephews and their children, his four children, Sarah (Ed), Nathan (Shannon), Hannah (Josh), Melissa (Rory), and his six favorite people, his grandchildren, Noah and Lilah, Topher and Lily, and Eli and Jacob. Stuart is predeceased by his mother Barbara (Brown) Waterhouse. Due to Covid19 services will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made with a memo "In Memory of SJ Waterhouse"  to Hilliard Baseball Association. PO Box 202, Hilliard, OH 43026. We are working with his grandson's little league to set up a fund to help kids with financial needs get on the field and play a little ball.
