Susan Marie Boardman
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His faithful servants.” – Psalm 116:15
Susan Marie Boardman, 67, a faithful servant of Jesus, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2026. After courageously battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Sue finished her race with remarkable bravery, unwavering faith, and radiant joy. Even as her body weakened, her spirit never did. Her joy in the midst of suffering became one of her greatest testimonies and inspired all who walked alongside her.
Susan was born on August 19, 1958, to Robert and Marjorie Breton. She grew up in Rochester, New Hampshire, and graduated from Spaulding High School, Class of 1976. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic, serving faithfully at Davidson Rubber, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Liberty Mutual, and most recently as a technical analyst at FedPoint, where she deeply valued both her work and her coworkers.
Sue was also devoted to her community. She volunteered faithfully at Grace Community Church, served for years on the Board of Habitat for Humanity, and was a graduate of Seacoast Leadership. Wherever there was a need, Sue stepped forward with willing hands and a joyful heart.
To know Susan was to experience love. Her hugs were legendary — her embrace felt like home. She radiated joy. Rooms seemed brighter when she entered, and celebrations became more vibrant because of her laughter. Young at heart and full of life, she loved music played far too loudly in her car, spontaneous adventures where “getting lost” was half the fun, and turning ordinary evenings into unforgettable memories.
She loved playing video and board games with her family and maintained a continuous 20-year Scrabble game with Glen (yes, Sue won!). Fiercely competitive and quick to laugh — especially at herself — Sue lived life with enthusiasm. Even during her battle with ALS, she remained an avid amusement park and roller coaster enthusiast, determined to savor every thrill she could.
Sue’s greatest earthly joy was her family. She was a cherished wife, a sacrificial mother, and an extraordinary Nana. For 45 years, she walked hand in hand with her husband, Glen — her soulmate and best friend. Their marriage was marked by deep love, shared laughter, and a steadfast commitment to follow Jesus together.
She was a devoted mother to Stephanie, Christopher, and Allyson, loving them generously and faithfully to the very end. As a Nana, she was simply unmatched. She hosted “Super Hero Sleepovers,” gave wheelchair rides, dressed up in costumes, and danced freely with her grandchildren. She went above and beyond to make them laugh, feel special, and know without a doubt that they were deeply loved.
Above all, Sue’s ultimate desire was to love and serve Jesus. She was a founding member of Grace Community Church, where she worshiped, mentored, encouraged, and served faithfully for 37 years. She was known as a champion of others — someone who saw the best in people and called it out in them.
Her generosity extended far beyond her hometown. Sue served on mission trips to Romania, Haiti, New Orleans, Biloxi, and Oaxaca. While helping rebuild Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, she earned the nickname “Strong Like Bull” (always said with a Cossack accent). That phrase would later become the banner over her ALS journey — a testament to her resilience, strength, and joyful determination.
Susan was a worshiper. She would lift her eyes to heaven, point her crooked index finger toward God, and praise Him with everything she had. Her heart’s deepest longing was to know and love Jesus — and now she sees Him face to face.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Glen; her beloved children Stephanie and her husband Michael, Christopher, and Allyson and her husband David. She absolutely adored her grandchildren: Jordyn, Madelyn, Riker, Willow, Justus, Felix, and Iona; and her two great-grandchildren, Blake and Bailey.
She is also survived by her siblings: Barbara Michael and her husband Glenn; Robert Breton; Bruce Breton and his wife Angela; Ray Breton; and Sandy Edgerly and her husband Roy; along with her dear in-laws Dona and Lynne, John and Ann, Jerry and PJ, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 14, 2026, at Grace Community Church, 57 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday, March 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Susan’s name to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS), an organization that provided extraordinary kindness and support during her battle. Donations may be made at www.ccals.org or mailed to CCALS, PO Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
