Sylvia W. Brown

Rochester NH-Sylvia W. Brown,84, formerly of Dodge St died Tuesday August 25, 2020 at her neighbors' home where she has been deeply cared for by her dear friend, Jim Ambrose with the help of Wentworth Hospice of Somersworth. Born November 26, 1935 in Amherst Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Winfred (King) Brown Sylvia grew up in Nova Scotia Canada where attended Halifax Business College. Sylvia moved to the United States and married Frederico Ponte. Prior to moving to Rochester, they lived for several years in Hawaii and Texas. They traveled extensively worldwide, such as Australia and Japan while Frederico was in the Airforce. Sylvia was an educated women having attended NHTI and earned several other certifications.When she moved to the United States, she lived a very active and social life, being very proud of being a 40 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and active in helping Veterans being a member of Soldier Helpers and Pease Greeters.
