Velma White

July 2, 1927 — November 23, 2016

Rochester - Velma E. White, 89, went to her long awaited Home by her sudden death on November 23, 2016, at the Studley Home in Rochester where she had very recently resided. On November 22, Velma had circled in her devotional Our Daily Bread, titled "Longing for Home" the phrase "The best home of all is our home in heaven." She was eagerly awaiting her Savior and Friend, the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she knew personally as her only way to home in heaven.     Velma was born July 2, 1927 in South Lebanon, Maine, the daughter of Frank L. and Lora (Barnes) Pierce. A graduate of Spaulding High School in 1945, she had done detailed office work at several local businesses before retiring in 1977.   She was a member and deaconess of True Memorial Baptist Church for many years. She also served as secretary on the Managerial Board of the Gafney Home.   She married Roger White in August, 1947, and together with their daughters and after retirement as well, they enjoyed many years of camping and traveling with friends....
