Verna Foss

ROCHESTER Verna M. Foss, 87, of 5 Apple Orchard Road, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at Colonial Hill of Rochester after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Strafford, the daughter of the late Earlon and Hattie (Berry) Foss. She was a graduate of Austin Cate Academy and worked at Studley's Flower Gardens, and Richs Dept. Store and eventually retired from Hartford Insurance Company and Grange Mutual as a receptionist. Mrs. Foss was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rochester and a longtime member of Order of Eastern Star. She was a 75-year member of Crown Point Grange, Eastern Pomona Grange and the National Grange. She was a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader and volunteered as a driver for the cancer society. Her hobbies included reading, painting cooking and using the talking books. The widow of the late Laurence J. Foss who died in 1983.
