Virginia Atwood

Wakefield, RI - Virginia "Ginny" Hoey Atwood, 86, passed away Thursday August 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, RI, following a period of failing health. Born April 19, 1929 in Newton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (MacArthur) Crosby. Virginia had worked for many years as a social worker for the state of RI. She was an avid reader and gardener, loved feeding and watching birds, the ocean, photography and family genealogies. Members of her family include her children Jeffrey Hoey and wife Suzanne of Lee, NH; Gregory Hoey, Sr. and wife Linda of Gonic, NH; Donald and wife Laurie of Thomasville, NC; and Leah Victoria Joseph and husband Brian of Soddy Daisy, TN; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, one sister Claire Hetherman of Seabrook, NH, and her loving companion David Madden of East Greenwich, RI.
