Vivienne L. Austin-Nickerson, 90, died Dec. 19, 2024 in Ocala Fl.
She was born on September 18, 1934 in Rochester, NH the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Allie Story. Graduating from Hallowell High School in Maine, Class of 1953, She enlisted and served for three years in the Woman’s Air Force as Personnel Specialist. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Richard E, Austin in 1987, her second husband of 25 years, Wendel A. Nickerson in 2016, and her daughter Sharon Austin-Keesling in 2014.
A career employee of the Federal Government in the United States and overseas as a Personnel Manager, GS11, when she retired in 1989.
During this time and thereafter, she distinguished herself through a number of organizational affiliations, to include as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, Bamberg, Germany, and as President of the Dover, NH Chapter of the AARP. She received formal recognition by the Seacoast Region of the Widowed Persons Service, AARP, as an Outreach Volunteer, Team Leader, and was a member of the Board of Directors, both in New Hampshire and Florida.
A lifetime member of the Seventh-day Adventist, she served in many church leadership and community service positions in several states.
Leisure activities included continuing educational pursuits, travel, scrap booking, quilting, porcelain doll making, reading and oil painting.
She is survived by her son Richard A. Austin, two sons-in-law, Thomas Nickerson and Daniel Nickerson, of Rochester, NH, three granddaughters, Andrea Sealey, Sarah Carlson and Stormie Lioy of Louisiana, New Hampshire and Florida respectively, and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours or services. Internment will be at the Franklin Street Cemetery, Rochester, NH. Arrangements are being carried out by Roberts Funeral Home in Ocala, FL. And the Edgerly Funeral Home in Rochester, NH.
