Groton, CT- Wallace Manning Akerman, 58, of Groton CT. died February 20, 2016 at his home with family by his side. He was born Oct. 25, 1957 in Portsmouth, NH the son of Richard S. and Sheila M. (Lapierre) Akerman, Sr. He has resided in Groton for the past 10 years previously living in Westerly, MA. He served in the U.S. Navy as First Class petty officer. He worked as a computer programmer. Wally was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed the ocean, smoking cigars and playing ball with Seamus but especially loved spending time with family and friends. Members of his family include his wife , Catherine Piasta of Groton; his daughter, Kathryn DeVoe and husband Michael of Barnstead, NH; his parents of Nashua, NH; brother, Michael and wife Loree Akerman, Alton, NH; sister, Sharon Soucy and husband Scott, Nashua, NH; sister-in-law, Kathy Akerman, Rochester; nieces, Erin, Stacey and Ava.
