Lebanon ME-Walter A. Drapeau,97, of 855 Center Rd died Wednesday April 5, 2017 at his home after a short illness. Born April 20, 1919 in Rochester NH he is the son of the late Joseph and Lorena (Lord) Drapeau. Walter has lived in Lebanon since 1979 after moving from Rochester. He owned and operated Tulsa Gas Station and was a truck driver for Sherwin Williams. He served in the United Sates Army during WWII and was awarded The Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #633, former member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, and a former memeber of the Odd Fellows Lodge #18 of Rochester NH. He enjoyed yard work and being in the outdoors. Members of his family include his wife Constance (Couture) Drapeau of Lebanon ME, his daughter, Arleene Clark of Deltona FL, his stepchildren; Sandy Janowski and Larry DePalma and an adopted daughter, Janet Smith. Many grandchildren and several great grandchildren, he is predeceased by his sons; Lawrence and Joseph Drapeau, and a daughter, Beverly Sisler, his brothers; Ken and John Drapeau. A graveside service will be held Thursday April 20th at 10:30 AM in the NH Veterans cemetery in Boscawen NH.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society.
